I keep reading that I would be able to get 2 Switch kites for the price of other brands kites.
Looking at the site, I am not certain of the substance of that statement.

I could buy a 12 m Cabrinha FX 2016 in one of the big british shops for 828 €.
The 12 m Nitro lands at 877 €.
Yes, the FX price is a sale, but it is offseason for Switch too, is it not?

Where is the assumed massive difference in prices?

Yeah you are right. locally there is so many sales going on on 2016 equipment which makes Switch unattractive in terms of prices. IE: slingshot 12m wave st, bar, board set goes for $US1000.

You can't go wrong with that. I would suggest do the research thoroughly, and get the best for your money.

What I don't get is why the hell so many people keep comparing last years model sales from other brands to brand new 2017 Switch kites

Look in the special deals section, make an offer with 30% discount for example. That would be a fair comparison.

I'm with Faxie on this one. To be a fair comparison we have to compare sale price with sale price.

just to be clear, are you guys complaining that you are getting a brand new, latest model from Switch for the price of other brand's last year discounted kite?
Compare apple for apples please
North rebel 10m 2017 model - £1159 yes £1159!!
Switch Nitro 10m 2017 model - £690 yes £690!!

BernieTomic1, you have to compare what's here http://switchkites.com/factory-outlet.html if you want to talk about deal prices. You can subtract 30% or even more from the prices published there. Availability is depending on your region, for example EU and New Zealand still have some kites on offer, but US has nothing right now. When a new kite is announced they usually have full range of sizes there.

I find Switch is most competitive in the larger sizes.

Also, when comparing apples to apples, don't forget Switch doesn't include a bag , while virtually all other kite manufacturers do. You would have to add $75 to the Switch kite price

Switch kites do come with a bag it just depends on how you define a kite bag. With $5 in materials and a sewing machine I simply added adjustable straps to all of my bags that allow me carry them on my back plus two for holding the bar. If your kite purchase decision is dependant upon the bag you should honestly find another sport.

Switch kites used to come with bag, pump, and repair kit included. They adopted a 'opt out' policy, which as I pointed out to them when they did will be perceived, and is perceived as a ploy to hide true comparable price of their kites.

From Kitepower web site, Ozone Reo 10m $1799. Add about $18 for postage. Includes a backpack and repair kit.

Switch Element 5 10m $881. Free postage. Includes a draw string bag. You could add in a backpack for just under $100.

So the difference is $900, or $800 if you want to buy a Switch backpack.

Switch are currently throwing in a bar for just under $200. Ozone bars is $639.

I'm not a Switch fan as such. I do like the price and the quality of the construction is impressive. I have not noticed anybody doing anything on any other kites that I can't do on a Switch kite.
