Nitro 5 (14 m2) how to avoid hindenburging?

Been riding this kite a few times and got into a couple of pretty nasty incidents because of the kite suddenly hindenburging in lighter conditions around 13 knots (seems like the low end for me w this kite. 85-89 kg beginner/intermediate and using control bar v2.

I undrstand it's a matter of skill so my question is what is your main concept preventing the "h"?

Would it be a good idea to use the upper most knots of the steering lines?

my v4 does this quite a bit when i'm not careful. You gotta keep kite moving at all times, and never keep it above you at 12 in threshold winds. Don't shorten back line too much otherwise you may backstall the kite.

My EV4,s used to Hindenburg in very gusty winds but have not had any now on the EV5,s.
I use the knot closest to the kite all the time, to prevent backstall just let the bar out if required.

Have you calibrated your bar/lines lately ?

I agree with mbevo. I have a 12m Nitro 5 which is my largest kite and always keep it moving in light winds. Most of my kiting is off the beach and if I take a spill in light winds, I'll come up and make sure the kite is not flying over my head. Just move it back and forth until you get your board back and take off.

I also have an Element 5 which is a little easier to fly, but I like the low end of my Nitro 12m so I am willing to pay more attention to the kite.

PS. Yes, have lines calibrated. Thinking of my incidents the most probabale cause have been not paying attention to the kite and letting it "overfly" when close to the zenith.

Try flying your kite on the upper rear line knot.
If your lines are evenly calibrated.

Felix, when you say "upper rear line knot", do you mean the knot furthest from the wing tip or the knot nearest to the wing tip?

I had the same problem with 16m n5. Now I pay extra attention to actively fly it and not let it go overhead. It's not a lazy kite

I'm self taught and learned the hard way not to keep the kite overhead in unstable wind. Especially important landing and launching, you don't want the kite to fall and then catch and yank your on to hard and/or sharp objects. The result of hindenburging out in the water is likely inverted lines, also a problem. New years Eve a guy flew an Element v3 9m back to shore very slowly, at first we thought he had a deflated leading edge but it turned out to be a fully inverted kite being pulled from the top side, i,e, the bottom side of the kite as he flew it was the normal top side.
Apparently IKO courses teach not to have the kite overhead landing or launching.
