It's called Velocity :). Obviously a new "Combat".

Don't think so, because Cabrinha already has a Velocity...

I'm pretty sure I read "legacy" on the wingtip.

ok, name is legacy, thanks

but what is switchkites legacy? :D

is it a new combat (mid aspect, 5 struts, no briddle/5 lines real c shape) ?
Or is it a new kite in the range (mid aspect, 5 struts, briddle, 4 lines, c-shaped freestyle oriented kite. Ozone C4/Cabrinha chaos like) , and combat3 will come anyway?

5 lines. Fifth line splits right before it reaches the kite. Sort of a bridled fifth line. So there are two attachments points on the LE unlike the Combat that had one.

OK, time for some news...

The Legacy is our new 'C' kite which has been in continuing development with Marc Jacobs for close to two years. Due to the timing of Marc's contest schedule, he used the first pre-production prototypes in Tarifa in advance of the kite's formal release. We are confirming with Marc a few final details and the kites are entering production with release depending on building inventory and shipping to the warehouses.

We are very excited with the Legacy because we have been extremely critical in our assessment of what a true 'C' kite should be and how it should perform in comparison to contemporary open/delta 'C' bridled hybrids. In the process of developing the Legacy, we made an extensive number of test prototypes with varying aspect ratio, LE vs TE geometry and profile molding. The goals were maximum slack in a contest scenario with an uncommon ease of use needed by 'C' kite enthusiasts who aspire to Marc's dynamic style. The interesting thing found during the kite's development is what Marc really needs and desires in a state-of-the-art contest kite is also extremely user-friendly for anyone in terms of stability and de-powerability. Marc is the biggest pro freestyle rider and constantly pushes the limits. When he goes for a move, he needs a co-operative predictable kite that allows an aggressive initiation and a confident recovery while becoming transparent in the process. These same factors benefit any rider regardless of skill or experience.

Because a true hard-lined 'C' kite cannot rely on the variable towpoints of a bridle, the specific location of the flying line attachments relative to the aerodynamic center must be built-in to the physical geomentry and structure of the kite. The proper positioning of the wingtips is a critical factor which is variably dependent on the profile and spanwise AOA. The subtle blend of the parameters is the key in what might otherwise appear to be just another 'C' kite. We firmly believe we have found the magic blend which will ultimately define the modern 'C' kite and be part of the Switch brand's legacy. By taking the most traditional design dating to the roots of the sport and placing it at the frontiers of development, the Legacy is both revolutionary and traditional and capable of advancing the potential of any rider. It is a surprisingly easy and fun kite which will redefine how riders view a 'C' kite in the future.

Sizes are presently 8, 10, 12, & 14sqm
The kite is intended for use with either a 'V'd 5th line or split-front 4/6 line set-up. Marc prefers the 5th line for contest use.
Cheers!
